Seascapes

Having grown up in Cornwall I really do feel it is my home (despite living about four miles over the border in Devon).  I love the sea and the challenge it provides as a subject.  To this end myself and my little black dog are trying to walk the Cornish part of the South West Coastal Footpath in stages.  I photograph and sketch as I go and use these as reference material when I get back to the studio.

Foxhole Point

I am gradually working my way round the Cornish section of the Southwest Coastal Footpath with my little black dog. I take sketches and photos as I go to work on back in the studio. This painting was completed after an autumnal walk in North Cornwall near Widemouth beach. I was taken with the beautiful copper tones and so I under painted using a copper coloured lacquer and then continued with acrylic on top. Every now and then you'll catch a hint of the copper shining through.
